Common questions about general settings and data.

How do I back up my data?

Navigate to the Settings tab, select Data & Storage, and then Backup & Restore. Novon will generate a .json.gz file containing your entire repository, library state, and configuration. We recommend exporting this file periodically to a cloud storage service or an external drive for safety.

Does clearing cache delete my library?

Absolutely not. Clearing the "Chapter HTML Cache" or "Image Cache" only removes temporary files used to optimize reading speeds. Your primary library, reading progression, and downloaded offline chapters remain untouched.

Can I share my layout settings across devices?

Yes. Creating a backup and restoring it on a secondary device will replicate your exact configuration, including:

  • Reader Preferences: Font choices, themes, and reading modes.
  • App Appearance: Custom theme colors and navigation layouts.
  • Service Credentials: Any configured tracking or sync platform metadata.
Automatic Pruning

By default, Novon keeps the last 5 automatic backups. You can adjust this retention count in the Data Settings panel.
