Frequently asked questions about Novon.

Is Novon free?

Yes. Novon is 100% free, open-source, and contains zero advertisements or telemetry tracking.

Is Novon available on iOS?

Yes, but Apple's App Store policies regarding dynamic code execution (like our JavaScript extensions) make it difficult to publish officially. Currently, you must use TestFlight or sideload the .ipa using AltStore/Sideloadly.

Does Novon host the novels?

No. Novon is merely a specialized web browser. It extracts and formats text from websites that you direct it to via extensions. We do not host, store, or distribute any copyrighted novel content.

Why do some sources fail with a 503 error?

This usually means the source website has enabled strict Cloudflare "Under Attack" mode protections that our WebView bypass cannot solve automatically (e.g. Turnstile CAPTCHAs that require manual tapping). You can sometimes fix this by opening the website in your normal phone browser, solving the CAPTCHA there, and then returning to Novon.

How do I use WebDAV backups?

WebDAV allows you to sync your encrypted library backups to an external server like Nextcloud. Go to Settings > Data & Storage > WebDAV Sync and enter your server's endpoint URL and credentials. Backups will automatically push to the server whenever the background auto-backup job runs.
